We have listed what we considered before we were to travel that needed to be addressed. Some of these things will not apply to you because of your situation and if you have kids or pets you may have more than we have listed.
- Safety – Insurance life, caravan, car.
- Wills.
- Putting everything possible – Accounts, investments, shares, bills (in both names).
- Backups – Paperwork – bills, account details, passwords.
- Backup photos.
- Contact phone #’s, addresses to keep in contact – Facebook contacts.
- Cut off utilities, subscriptions.
- Care & caravan service – oil, water, battery, mechanical, wiring etc.
- Check all licenses obtained, drone, fishing, detector, satellite phone.
- Charge phones, cameras, spare batteries.
- Check registrations of vehicles paid & address changed.
- Re-direct mail.
- Change address on license (drivers).
- Medical & dental checks.
- Caravan schooling.
- Lessons on detectors – gold & trinket.
- Drone lessons.
- Road rules for each State are different – check them.
- Research & book 1st point of travel.
- Return sell, throw, donate possessions.
- Buy storage, food, equipment, hooks, tools etc for car or caravan.
- Organize storage facilities for possessions (if needed)
- If you have kids organize for home schooling.
- Business & personal taxes.
- Rental cleaning & giving notice or rent out your premise’s
- Selling where to live between day of new people taking possession to day leave.
- Storing caravan whilst waiting to leave.
- Getting familiar with car & caravan (we are new to this)
- Check new products eg: tent that all poles, pegs & it sets up, Winch works, emergency car equipment in good condition.
- First aid kit fully stocked & all In date.
- Medications & prescriptions filled & in date for few months.
- Gift cards used up – in stores local to where you currently live.
- All bills paid.
- Music down loaded or CD’s for car trip.
- Make sure you have spare batteries, USB’s, SD cards (We have a list of all items that have batteries and what size they use, all electrical cables are labeled with what equipment they are for)
- Arrange to catch up with family & friends.
- Money – Carry some cash – just in case although most places take cards.
- Store a copy of passport, drivers license & all bank details either in a safety box or with someone you trust incase of an emergency, theft or death do same with our will.
- Settle any alterations if possible or differences causing rifts or strains.
- Be prepared to be different people at the end of your journey & want different things in life.
